Sustainability

Less waste, more food.

Freeze-drying turns out to be one of the lowest-waste ways to deliver fruit and vegetables. Here's how we squeeze every gram of value out of the food we source.

Our four pillars

How we keep impact low.

01

Sourcing.

We buy ugly produce too, perfectly good fruit that's the wrong shape for grocery shelves. It tastes the same once it's freeze-dried and ground.

02

Process.

Freeze-drying uses ~30% less energy than spray-drying and preserves up to 95% of nutrients. We run on grid power that is, in Québec, 99% hydroelectric.

03

Packaging.

Sticks are mono-material BOPP, recyclable in Québec's blue bin program. Boxes are kraft, 90% recycled fiber, FSC-certified. Tissue paper is compostable.

04

Shipping.

Sticks weigh 22g vs. ~200g for an equivalent fresh-fruit smoothie. That's 10x less weight to truck across the country, and no cold chain needed.

Why it travels well

No freezer. No thaw window. No problem.

Frozen smoothie services need 6 cu.ft of freezer space, dry ice in every box, and a 4-day eat-by window after delivery. fruvi sits in your pantry for 24 months and ships everywhere in Canada, including the regions cold-chain services skip entirely.
